Description

Description

Both armrests up, both footrests off, nothing in the way

The Ergo 125 — Karma’s S-Ergo 125 — is described by the manufacturer as “the classic model of the S-Ergo line”. This is the self-propel version, with 24″ rear wheels and ergonomic handrims.

The one thing it does better: it gets completely out of the way for a sideways transfer. The armrests flip up and the footrests swing away and detach without tools, so the user can slide straight across onto a bed, a car seat or a commode with no armrest to lift over. On a chair with fixed armrests that same transfer means standing first. For anyone who cannot reliably stand, that single difference decides whether they can move between chair and bed on their own.

Who it suits

  • Someone who transfers sideways rather than standing up
  • Full-time users — the S-Ergo seat is built for hours, not minutes
  • Users up to 115kg
  • Care settings, where the AEGIS-treated upholstery earns its place

Standard features

  • S-Ergo Seating System — follows the body’s anatomic curves to spread load from the hip bone to the lower thigh
  • Flip-up armrests
  • Detachable, swing-away footrests, no tools needed
  • AEGIS Microbe Shield upholstery treatment — inhibits bacterial growth to control odour
  • Ergo Armpads, curved inward to match how forearms actually rest
  • Ergo Handrims for more efficient, more comfortable propelling

Self-propel or transit?

This version has 24″ rear wheels the user drives themselves. If someone else will always be pushing, the Ergo 125 Transit is 1.7kg lighter and narrower through doorways. If the user stands to transfer rather than sliding across, look at the S-Ergo 115 with its fixed armrests.

Not sure? A free equipment assessment settles seat width and configuration in one visit. A 20″ (500mm) seat is also made — ask us for a price.
