How often should a profiling bed be serviced?
ANNUALLY! According to CQC Auditors!
Most manufacturers of profiling beds advise that they should be serviced on an annual basis, and many of our clients have also been advised by CQC that annual servicing of profiling beds should be carried out by an independent 3rd Party.
Health & Safety Executive states that at least annually or as often as a competent person deems necessary.

Profile Bed Servicing
Profile bed servicing is vital for safety and function of the profiling bed in use. Anyone in the care industry should be aware that hi-lo profiling beds are viewed as lifting equipment, though that is not their primary functino so they do not require LOLER.
This leads us to a place that could be seen as a grey area.
Modern profiling beds, should have safety features built in that offer a sense of safety and security. They are still, though, machines designed to change the position of an object and as such are not passive items like a divan bed used at home. They need regular and competent servicing and testing.
According to the HSE they fall into a legal requirement for safety and service the minute you have a paid home care worker attending the home.
