The Ergo Lite 2 Transit is the attendant-propelled version of the world’s best-selling lightweight travel wheelchair. Someone else does the pushing; you get a chair that weighs 9.2kg complete and strips to 6.7kg once the wheels and footrests come off.

The one thing it does better: weight, and what that weight costs a carer. Most transit chairs sit around 12–14kg. Lifting three kilos less into a car boot four times a day is the difference between a carer who can still do it at 6pm and one who cannot.

Who it suits

• Someone who can walk a little but not far, and has a partner or carer to push
• A carer who is loading and unloading the chair alone, repeatedly

Transit or self-propel?
